China Medical University Stomatology Faculty was founded in 1985. The Affiliated Stomatology Hospital was established in 1987 and the Stomatology College was established in 1998. Then modern building with the functions of medical treatment, education and scientific research was opened to publics in September 2004, which covers 12000 square meters and locates on the north of Zhongshan Square, Heping District, Shenyang city. Our hospital consists of out-patient unit, emergency unit, emergency unit and ward, which is well equipped with central air-condition, hospital information system, doctor-patient intercom and laminar flow operation room. There are 13 education and research department, 17 clinical departments, 8 technical centers and 1 central laboratory. 372 medical staffs are working in the hospital. Among them, the doctor’s degree and the master’s degree holders account for 94% of the teaching staff.151 dental units and 74 patients beds provide better service for the patients, and the average out-patients are more than 600 daily. With the authorization of China Medical University and Liaoning Health Department, Plastic Surgery Department, Plastic and cosmetic Center, Oral and Maxillofacial Tumor Center, Implant Center, VIP unit were founded in 2004. The Emergency Department was founded in June 2005, which brings favorable social and economic benefits.
The hospital is the diagnostic and therapeutic center of complicate diseases in northeast china, and is also in charge of the maintenance of senior leaders’ oral health in Liaoning province. Liaoning Stomatological Association, Liaoning Research Institute of Stomatology, Liaoning Dental Disease Preventive Organization and Stomatology branch of Shenyang Medical Doctor Association are sponsored by our hospital. Our hospital was selected by China Charity Federation for The Smile Train-Free treatment for lip and palate cleft patients, and was honored with “China Charity Award”. Our hospital was appointed for the Shenyang basic medical insurance and the Shenyang Railroad medical insurance. Now our hospital was also appointed for the Liaoning basic medical insurance.
The Affiliated Stomatology Hospital has some first class equipment, such as the imported root canal microscope, periodontal endoscope system, digital panoramic roentgenography, ultrasound bone knife, Mulor microscopy for operation, swing saw, TMJ endoscope and plasma operation system. 81 new technique and methods are developed in recent 3 years. Our hospital is the leading one in the field of systematic treatment of tumor in head and neck, team approach of cleft lip and palate, treatment of severe maxillofacial injury like fracture of facial bone, crano-maxillo-facial deformity and orthognathic surgery. Our hospital is the only one in Shenyang for using root canal microscope, X-mart used for root canal preparation, Obtura Ⅱ system and Thermafil system, Florida periodontal probe. Our hospital generally uses all kinds of exactitude attachment denture and total ceramic. The use of titanium alloy and golden alloy removable partial framework or partial plate of complete denture is common in prosthodontic department. The amount and quality of denture implant is increasing. New methods have been employed in the treatment of various malocclusions. In 2006, our hospital was appointed as the only national clinical certified doctor training base of maxillofacial surgery by Chinese Stomatology Association in north-eastern China.
School of Stomatology, China Medical University is the awarding unit for stomatology doctoral degree and master degree. Now it has 10 doctoral and 45 master tutors. The hospital enrolled 1223 undergraduate course students, 603 course students and 102 doctor course students in the past 30 years. 29 doctors occupy the standing committeeman or the committeeman of Chinese Medical Association and Chinese Stomatological Association. 55 person-time occupy the vice editor in chief, standing editor or editor of different academic publications.
Knowing the importance of academic exchange, we established regular academic activity relationship with the United States, Japan and South Korea, and invited foreign experts to give lectures in our hospital 10 times every year. Until now, more than 100 staff from our hospital have gone abroad for visit and advanced study.
